What drives me nuts is that after several weeks of running well, suddenly it hangs forever while displaying a "preparing file list" message. Most of the time works great, but every few weeks it acts up and both wastes my time and aggravates me tremendously. Delete the folder C:\ProgramData\IDrive (CAUTION: Doing this will delete your list of files and folders to be backed up.

A clean install is not necessary for most updates, but when there are problems, it might solve the problem. When iDrive problems occur, doing a clean install can solve the problem. They will of course be different for other systems. In case it helps other people who have the same problem, here is how iDrive recommended that I fix it. I suspect it will solve my problems, but since they can take a while to show up, I don't know yet how permanent the fix is. IDrive contacted me after my original review and made suggestions about how to solve the problems I've been having. I've used it for four years with some really aggravating problems,but iDrive has responded with ideas for solving them.
